- Same as our full size ZAD900, just 15% smaller making it easier to hold for smaller players
- Solid Sitka Spruce/Indian Rosewood, curly maple binding, full abalone and pearl inlay.
- Players buying the 900OM are coming from Martin OOO Eric Clapton, Taylor 8 and 9 Series
If you demand the best this is it. When we have a customer come into the shop with a $5000+ high dollar acoustic who’s looking for that type of quality and sound but with easier playability, the 900 is the only guitar we go to. Unlike our 20 and 50 Series guitars Denny uses a special bracing system on the 900 that allows the face to move half a millimeter more giving more projection and power. When you hit a string on the 900 you feel it resonate through your gut. There’s very few guitars today that can do this, especially new guitars, and when you find one it’s usually the price of a small car. Read more
Be sure to read artist comments and magazine reviews on the 900 as it consistently rates in the top 5% of acoustics made world wide. 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. It’s a lifetime instrument so it comes with a lifetime warranty. Truly a work of art with a stunning sound that will get better year after year.
- Smaller “OM Size” Orchestra Model. 15% smaller than full size. Similar to Martin OOO and Taylor Grand Auditorium. Narrower hour glass shape sits lower in your lap making it easier to pull in close under your arm. Thinner body provides a slightly thinner sound but doesn’t overpower mics in the recording studio.
- Solid wood construction sounds better every year as it ages.
- Hand carved bracing for greater movement of the soundboard providing a richer sound.
- Slim neck design feels natural in your hand making it easier to form chords.
- Custom string spacing for greater speed and accuracy (and less rattles).
- Zager soft touch fret design for less string bite and finger fatigue.
- Adjustable truss rod to raise or lower action depending on your playing style.
- Special ultra thin high gloss finish allows more movement of the body for deeper sound
- Hand carved bone nut and saddle. (Found on predominantly $1500+ guitars).
- Hand laid abalone inlay rosette with pearl fret markers.
- Ivory binding detail and zipper stripe down back (Found in predominantly $1500+ guitars).
- Genuine Grover tuning machines (best in the world).
- 100% money back guarantee
- Lifetime warranty

OM Style Orchestra models (referred to as OM's) have a body that is 15% smaller then our full size guitars. They have a slightly narrower hour glass design which make them sit lower in your lap so they're a little easier to get your arm around, especially if you're smaller in stature or if you have a larger mid section. Neck size and scale length are identical to our full size guitars.
Grade A Sitka Spruce Top Top Sitka which is known for its strength and durability comes from the Northern coast of British Columbia up into Alaska. It tends to have a warm pinkish/tan hue to it. Spruce offers a tight, punchy low end response with great projection. Players who demand a powerful sound with tons of projection will hear the benefit of a Sitka spruce top. Used on only the highest quality acoustic guitars in the world. |
Indian Rosewood Back-sides One of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time. Where mahogany lends itself to the midrange, rosewoods sonic profile is deeper in the low end. Not to take anything away from mahogany as many players will find it difficult to tell them apart, but the dedicated ear will notice a deeper, richer, sweeter tone coming from a rosewood guitar. Many players don’t know that cedar is one of the few woods that can outperform spruce when paired with rosewood which is why Denny uses a Western red cedar top with Indian rosewood back and sides on his 80 series guitars.
Hand Bent Figured Maple Binding Figured Maple binding is not only beautiful to look at but it also protects your guitar from bumps and nicks in daily use. Found generally on guitars exceeding the $2000+ price point.
Mahogany with Inlay Neck Mahogany—one of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars for the last 50 years. Complete with hand laid contrast inlay.
Indian Rosewood Headstock Indian rosewood is commonly found on high-end guitars. This wood is heavier and more dense than mahogany and also is very stable and resonant. East Indian Rosewood is dark brown with sometimes purple-brown streaks giving a pleasant figure. The guitar head stock configuration is a registered trademark and is used under license from C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA.
Zager Design (Hand Scalloped) Bracework The technique of scalloping or shaving the braces can have a huge impact on the power and tone of an acoustic guitar. By shaving or reducing the thickness of the brace, it becomes more flexible and therefore lets the top move more freely. When done by a Master Luthier the brace maintains its structural integrity, while making the top more efficient. The result is faster attack, longer sustain, more bass, more power, and an overall improvement in the whole tone system.
Full Abalone Inlay Inlay Abalone inlay is found on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand one piece at a time, the color and translucence of each piece changes with different amounts of light. Not only does it add to the overall look of your guitar, but it also adds to the value. Our 900 Pro Series guitars have an inlay rosette around the sound hole in combination with inlay around the entire face as well as small cross fret markers going up the fret board
Pearl Cross Fret-markers Used on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand on the fret board one piece at a time. It's a very tedious, time consuming process but the results are breathtaking
Figured Maple Inlay Back-detail This accent matches the guitars figured binding and abalone inlay perfectly to give it that extra expensive look of a pro series guitar. Laid by hand one piece at a time. Adds to the overall beauty and sets off the color of the wood. Found on only the highest quality guitars in the world.
High Gloss Finish High-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age—which is what makes a guitar sound better year after year. A thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.
Custom Adjustment Setting Truss-rod Denny designs his guitars with a truss rod adjustment setting that allows you to dial in your guitar to your particular playing style. In this way if you're a heavy handed player you can set the action higher so you can "get on it" a little for more power, and if you're lighter handed touch player you can dial in the action low so you can move faster and play longer with less fatigue.
Genuine Grover (gold) Tuning-machines Genuine Grover sealed tuning machines are found on only the finest guitars made. Look at tuners on $2500+ acoustics and you will see the majority have "Grovers." Unlike open gear tuners where the tuning mechanism is exposed, Grover sealed tuners contain a lubricant that keep the tuning mechanism sealed air-tight so the gears turn smooth and continue to for the life of your instrument. Lifetime warranty. If you have a tuner go bad we'll replace it free of charge for life.
Bone Hand Carved Nut Denny hand carves his nuts from bone for each guitar so the strings are set lower with custom spacing. Lower string heights make it easier to press down to form chords and it also increases finger speed. Custom spacing allows you to move faster with less buzzes, mutes, and rattles because you’re no longer bumping adjacent strings. Custom string spacing makes it easier for all hands sizes big and small. Lifetime warranty. Break a nut and we'll replace it free of charge for life
Tusq Hand Carved Saddle Denny hand carves each saddle for each individual guitar. Denny also adjusts the intonation settings to bring the guitar harmonically in balance with itself. This not only makes your guitar easier to play, but it also makes it sound more powerful. Customers say our guitars fall into tune easier and stay in tune longer...this is one of the reasons why. Denny uses only genuine "Tusq" brand saddles on his guitars which you generally only find on higher dollar acoustics . Lifetime warranty. Break a saddle and we'll replace it free of charge for life.
Zager Custom Lights Strings Zager custom strings are designed by Denny exclusively for his Guitars. We have customers using all brands and gauges of strings on our guitars with excellent results (Elixir, Martin, Fender, Gibson, D'addario) but these are the strings our customers seem to like the most on our guitars. Hand wound daily in our shop in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Zager Soft Touch (Hand Filed) Frets Denny hand files each fret one at a time on every guitar that leaves our shop. By filing the frets Denny achieves two important things. When sliding up and down the neck your fingers will no longer get irritated and sore and you won't suffer from what we call "String Bite" and overall finger fatigue. Secondly, when you file the frets by hand each fret will have the same uniform height. 9 times out of 10 when you have a buzzing string it has nothing to with your playing, it’s because you have a guitar with a fret that’s sitting away from the fret board hitting a string.
Lifetime Warranty Our warranty is simple. Lifetime on all guitars. A quality guitar should be made to last a lifetime and if it doesn't it wasn't a quality guitar to begin with. |

This guitar is hands down the best acoustic/electric that I have ever played. The Zager family takes pride in there products and it shows in the sound and ease of play of their guitars. I definitely recommend this company and I will purchase another guitar from the Zager company. Ive played guitar for 30 years.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I bought a guitar three years ago and I have to say that it defeated me. The neck was too wide and the body too big for me to hold comfortably. The strings were set higher and hurt my fingers. My new Zager guitar is smaller (OM size) and the strings set closer. My old guitar had a nice sound. The Zager guitar has a beautiful sound - I love to strum the strings.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite part of this guitar is the sound - it inspires me to play.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would guess it to be 3 or 4 thousand - it has all the features of a top quality guitar. My guitar teacher was impressed with it as well.
How would you rate customer support?
They are easy to get ahold of - when I was shopping for it, I could contact them online with immediate response. I haven\'t had any reason to contact them lately, but I plan on trying their on-line lessons at some point.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely I would recommend it. It has everything I was looking for and I doubtI will ever shop for another guitar again. It is worth it to buy the best.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I own a Martin HD28V a Gibson B25 and a Fender F35. This guitar is by far the easiest to play and the sound both acoustic and electric is superb. The silky smooth Grover tuners and the Fishman electronics make tuning up a breeze.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I love the rich warm sound while being so easy to play. My lightly strung Gibson used to be my go to guitar for a quick practice but the 50CE, with perfect string spacing, action and a full D size voice makes this my first grab every time.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have a Guild, a Wechter Pathmaker Deluxe and a Boulder Creek and a Boulder Creek ECRM-4N and the Zager is head and shoulders above these. It has a rich, full voiced sound all across the width and length of the fretboard. It stays in tune as well as any guitar I've ever had (30 years of playing). It has quite a lot of volume--it really projects. The playability surpasses the other guitars I have: excellent low action, no string buzz--very easy on the hands. The electronics are first rate--they deliver the sound the guitar produces.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The sound. I've been looking for this sound in an acoustic guitar for a long time.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$2,000
How would you rate customer support?
10 out of 10. The best I've encountered so far in the world of guitars.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would recommend it first for the sound and then value for the money. Then there's playability and quality of materials and construction. Then there's the customer service--I learned a lot from the online support on care and maintenance of the guitar. Response has always been very fast. And did I mention the sound?

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
To me there is no comparison with any guitar I have owned or tried. The ease that it plays is unbelievable to me. It also is a beautiful guitar, exuding craftsmanship throughout.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
First and foremost for me is how easy the string depression is. I am getting older and my hands don\'t work as they once did, throw in a little arthritis and I need all the help I can get. This guitar is a solution to my handicap. The tone of this guitar is also extraordinary.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
As I said earlier, I was considering a Martin guitar. I was looking at middle to upper end and we all know how expensive they are. My ZAD50ce could easily be $1,500 and up. One has to see it to believe it.
How would you rate customer support?
I have not had any problems with my guitar. I do know that before I purchased I read all about Zager\'s warantee. It is hard to imagine that they guarantee guitars 100%, period. I do know that I emailed Dennis Zager Jr. a few times prior to my purchase and his response time was almost immediate. To me that says a lot about the company.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely I would recommend this guitar to anyone. The ease of play, the tone, craftsmanship, the rich appointments to the guitar, the overall beauty of the guitar, terrific customer support and a 100% guarantee. This is a whole lot of guitar for the money!!!!

Advertised as "ez-play" and indeed it is. Less pressure on my arthritic fingers! Sound is superb. Showed it to my brother a semi-professional musician, and had a time getting it out of his hands.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The sound! Though I bought the acoustic/electric option, it plays with much more volume than my old guitar.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Hard to estimate the price, but you get what you pay for and I got a quality product for the price I paid.
How would you rate customer support?
Customer support is number one bar none! Quickly answering emails, and phone, extra courteous and went out of the way on my order to get shipment super fast.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Definitely, will tell anyone who will listen. As advertised, excellent sound, quality workmanship, I don\'t know what more could you want or expect!

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
My previous guitar is a Martin, that I purchase for my daughter at a cost of $2,228.oo plus tax. My zager guitar is on the same league as the Martin and in some areas it is better. ie. In terms of craftsmanship, fit and finish the Zager is superior, in terms of sound, the Zager is better in the midrange and high tones, base is a slight advantage to the Martin. Volume and clarity of sound is an even match. The biggest advantages of the Zager is in the area of playability. This is a guitar that is very comfortable to play and confidence inspiring. I feel comfortable takin greater risk and using chords that I would otherwise avoid. In terms of cost the Zager is half the cost of the Martin.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Sound.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Between $2,250.00 to $3,000.00 At a retail store.
How would you rate customer support?
Best ever.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely yes! #1 Because of the sound quality. #2 Playability, very easy to play. #3 Cost. They are that good! in my mind I payed 50% of what the guitar is worth.
Additional comments:
Any body contemplating the purchase of a Zager guitar, do not hesitate. These guitars are as good or better than the high dollar Martins at half the money and playability is just a bonus, with a 100% money back guarantee you can\'t loose.

PLAYABILITY! Very good sound.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, with Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings. It is the easiest playing guitar I\'ve ever had. I also have a Gibson SG Raw Power with Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings. It is a beautiful guitar and is great for hard rock. The ZAD50CE is the best sounding guitar I\'ve ever played. And it is surprisingly easy to play, considering the string thickness it came to me with. In order to get this amazing sound, I know a thicker string is needed. I love the way it plays. The sound is incredible. I have an Alvarez 12 string and this guitar is almost as loud. The tones are pure and sweet. I invited a friend over who owns a Martin D16 and a Seagull. He was really impressed. When I told him that I only paid little over $700 for the guitar and hard shell case he was a LOT more impressed. He said he\'s going to have to save some money up because he wants one. I\'ve played his Martin and I like it, but this guitar plays better and sounds sweeter, at a fraction of the price
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The clarity of the sound. The low tones are deep and rich while the higher notes are bright and sweet. It almost sounds like a grand piano.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$2000
How would you rate customer support?
They were very responsive. I was told they were out of stock on the Black model. After I placed the order, I expected to wait 3 months. They looked around and found one they were holding for another customer who had subsequently opted for a different model. I received it 2 & 1/2 months earlier than I had expected.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely. All they need to do to be convinced is hear it.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I currently play a Martin but was looking to add a Gibson CJ45. After a friend told me about the Zager, I contacted Dennis and the rest is history. I am more than pleased with the quality, playability, performance and sound of this instrument. It far surpasses anything that was said about it. It truly is a quality instrument at a more than reasonable price. Not only does is sound and play well but it is a work of art as well.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
This is by far the easiest guitar I have ever played and the sound quality is Superior. I highly recommend this to any player, from student to professional. I am sure they would be as pleased as I am.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would place this guitar to be easily within the $3-5,000 range.

Superior... the support I got from Dennis was and remains unmatched by any other business. It is a family and once you inquire about one of their guitars you too become a part of that family.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
The Zager ZAD80CE has superior tone over any guitar I have played in stores or any that I own. The action is refined, but not so far that it becomes too sensitive to temperature changes. The refinement still allows the guitar owner to further refine if so desired. Overall, the combination of the string spacing, and action truly does make the guitar easier to play clean notes.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
By far, the best attribute of this guitar is the tone. There are several close seconds; the trim and finish are beautiful, the components are very high quality.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I think the guitar is priced correctly. The tone and finish are very, very good. Some might say as good as a $3500 gibson, but the high price tag on a gibson isnt just because of its quality, but more so based on it\'s resale value and longstanding reputation. The resale value is largly based on popularity and consumer perception.
How would you rate customer support?
customer support is absolutely excellent. Quick response and a sincere desire to make the customer happy.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
The Zager line of guitars is the only guitar I would recommend to others. I have held many many guitars and the Zager is a clear winner.
Additional comments:
The Zegar guitar is an awesome guitar that i am sure any guitar player would enjoy. As a beginner, the combination of the guitar and the online lessons are hard to beat. The lessons take what most would consider the most difficult style of guitar playing and makes it "do-able".

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I've always dreamed of owning my own guitar but until my ZAD-50 owning one was not possible. The guitars I\'ve held in stores seem like children\'s toys compared to my guitar. My guitar feels solid and smooth and strong. The workmanship and dedication that Denny puts into his guitars was obvious from the moment I unpacked my new guitar.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I love the true clear sounds of my guitar. I am a beginner enrolled in Denny\'s lesson plan. I am amazed that I can actually understand and play a song in such a short time.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would have to say at least three times what I paid.

Top knotch all the way! Every question I have emailed was answered almost instantly with caring, kindness and professionalism. Your people are are the best! Even when I asked an embarrassing question (which I won't repeat) I was assured that I was not the first to ask. Every product that I asked about was in my mailbox within a day or two. Zager is the only company that I have ever ordered from that has not tried to nickle and dime me to death. All the little extras that you have sent me were never expected and are greatly appreciated. You people are wonderful!!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
You better believe it! I would hate to see any of my friends go in debt to own a dream come true guitar. Zager has made it possible for people with a love of music to own a guitar AND take lessons that are easy to understand without robbing a bank. I am sure I will be buying another guitar from you in the near future.
Additional comments:
The on-line lessons are wonderful. Many people with a busy lifestyle like me have diffuculty taking lessons because there are simply not enough hours in the day. With the on-line lessons you can take lessons at your leisure, even if it happens to be 2:00 in the morning. Being able to view the lessons over and over again also is a huge help when you get stuck on a problem. I cannot say enough to show my appreciation. All my life I have wanted to play a guitar but living on a farm, raising children and working full time leaves little room for anything else. Now the children are grown and I am able to spend a little more time on myself. I get a HUGE satisfaction everytime I open my guitar case and see my ZAD-50. I don\'t care if I ever play for an audience other than my husband (who encouraged me to buy from you) or my horse. It brings me great joy to play.

How would you rate customer support?
Zager has without doubt the best customer support I have encountered anywhere, emails are answered very quickly, answers to questions are given freely and completely so even someone that does not know guitars can be assured they are being given the best advise: Case in Point; when I wrote and said I was unsure of which model would be best for me as a beginner, I was given an entire explanation of what to expect from the ZAD50 and the ZAD80 with the ZAD50 (the lower priced model) being recommended to me. The only reason I decided to go with the ZAD80 instead was its sheer beauty. The customer support is unbeatable and this type of honesty and knowledge is priceless.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
In a heartbeat, quality, quality and quality! I found I was dealing what totally honest and professional guitar maker, willing to provide explanations and guidance. The workmanship speaks for itself, when I received and finally opened the case after it allow to come to room temperature, I simply held it and marveled at its beauty! When I played a couple of notes on it I knew I had made a well informed choice.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
No comparison. I have owned a Guild 25, Alvarez, presently own a Seagull 25th anniversary which is overall very nice to play and the string spacing is why I bought it, but this Zagar that I just got is superb in every way and much more enjoyable to play in the way it is constructed. Top shelf is how I would put it.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I like the comfortable feel of the neck and the extra wide spacing between strings as my fingers are rather large. I also love the looks of the Sunburst and the pearl inlay around the sound hole. You have to see it to appreciate it. It\'s a joy to look at and play. I would never want another guitar, EVER!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would price it around the $1200 range.
How would you rate customer support?
Excellent in every way!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I not only would, but I will for every reason stated above. You couldn\'t possibley get a better quality guitar unless maybe you want to spend a couple of thousand dollars and even then, I don\'t know if it would be any better.
Additional comments:
This company has been making these guitars since 1969 so they are well established. There is no possible way that you could lose by purchasing one of these outstanding guitars as Zagar has a 100% money back guarantee and that even includes free shipping both ways should you not like it so it costs you nothing.........I don\'t think you\'ll be sending it back though once you open the box and see it and then play it! You will then become another believer and satisfied customer who would be more than happy to send in a comment just as I am doing here. I only wish I had known about this guitar company years ago! Zagar Guitar is simply superb!
