  • Full Size, Solid Sitka Spruce/Indian Rosewood, maple binding, abalone and pearl inlay.
  • Fishman AURA Sound Imaging system (highest rated in the USA)
  • Our deepest, richest sounding guitar…15% more power than our 80 Series.
  • Buyers of the 900 are coming from Martin D45, Taylor 9, Gibson Hummingbird

If you demand the best this is it.  When we have a customer come into the shop with a $5000 acoustic who’s looking for that type of quality and sound but with easier playability, the 900 is the only guitar we go to.  Unlike our 20 and 50 Series guitars Denny uses a special bracing system on the 900 that allows the face to move half a millimeter more giving it more projection and power.   When you hit a string on the 900 you feel it resonate through your gut.  There’s very few guitars today that can do this, especially new guitars, and when you find one it’s usually the price of a small car. Read more

Zager Pro Series guitars play a little easier and sound a little more powerful than our regular series instruments.   The woods are aged longer.  The finish is applied thinner so the sound board moves half a millimeter more when the strings are hit providing a deeper bass response.  Each piece of abalone and pearl is laid by hand in combination with gold Grover tuners that pop to the eye.  Most customers buying our 900 Series are touring artists and veteran musicians coming from high level Martin, Taylor, Santa Cruz and Gibson.  Denny did extensive testing in designing the 900 and sent it to veteran players and artists around the world who put it up against the finest guitars made. Pros say the 900 outperforms guitars at twice its price point (sometimes more), but playability is easier and price is less than half since you’re buying direct from our workshop in Lincoln, Nebraska versus retail stores.

Denny wanted only the finest electronics system for the 900 series so he called Bob Fishman at world renowned “Fishman Transducers.” Fishman’s new Aura Digital Sound Imaging System allows you to download thousands of sound images directly from the Fishman online library that have been professionally mixed in Fishmans multi-million dollar recording studios. You can select from images mixed specifically for your Zager as well as thousands of others depending on the sound you’re looking for. Denny used to spend countless hours in studio time dialing in the perfect sound for his guitars. Fishman’s Aura Image Gallery Software (included) does this for you by allowing you to select from thousands of images in their online library that will give you the sound you want no matter what you’re looking for and downloading them onto your guitar via USB cable. Read the reviews, talk to the pros, and you will see this system dominates every guitar electronics package on the market today.

Be sure to read artist comments and magazine reviews on the 900 as it consistently rates in the top 5% of acoustics made world wide. 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. It’s a lifetime instrument so it comes with a lifetime warranty.  Truly a work of art with a stunning sound that will get better year after year.

Venetian Cutaway Style
A "Venetian Cutaway" is a guitar that has a section of the body "cut away" by the neck which makes it easier to slide your hand down low to reach chords near the sound hole. Denny braces the cutaways a little differently then his full box guitars so sound quality matches. If you’re a player that spends a lot of time on that part of the neck a cutaway box is invaluable.
guitar top 900 spruce
Grade A Sitka Spruce Top Top
Sitka which is known for its strength and durability comes from the Northern coast of British Columbia up into Alaska. It tends to have a warm pinkish/tan hue to it. Spruce offers a tight, punchy low end response with great projection. Players who demand a powerful sound with tons of projection will hear the benefit of a Sitka spruce top. Used on only the highest quality acoustic guitars in the world.

guitar back sides rosewood
Indian Rosewood 900CE Back-sides
One of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time. Where mahogany lends itself to the midrange, rosewoods sonic profile is deeper in the low end. Not to take anything away from mahogany as many players will find it difficult to tell them apart, but the dedicated ear will notice a deeper, richer, sweeter tone coming from a rosewood guitar.
binding maple
Hand Bent Figured Maple Binding
Figured Maple binding is not only beautiful to look at but it also protects your guitar from bumps and nicks in daily use. Found generally on guitars exceeding the $2000+ price point.
inlay neck
Mahogany with Inlay Neck
Mahogany—one of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars for the last 50 years. Complete with hand laid contrast inlay.
indian rosewood headstock
Indian Rosewood Headstock
Indian rosewood is commonly found on high-end guitars. This wood is heavier and more dense than mahogany and also is very stable and resonant. East Indian Rosewood is dark brown with sometimes purple-brown streaks giving a pleasant figure. The guitar head stock configuration is a registered trademark and is used under license from C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA.
guitar brace work
Zager Design (Hand Scalloped) Bracework
The technique of scalloping or shaving the braces can have a huge impact on the power and tone of an acoustic guitar. By shaving or reducing the thickness of the brace, it becomes more flexible and therefore lets the top move more freely. When done by a Master Luthier the brace maintains its structural integrity, while making the top more efficient. The result is faster attack, longer sustain, more bass, more power, and an overall improvement in the whole tone system.
guitar inlay
Full Abalone Inlay Inlay
Abalone inlay is found on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand one piece at a time, the color and translucence of each piece changes with different amounts of light. Not only does it add to the overall look of your guitar, but it also adds to the value. Our 900 Pro Series guitars have an inlay rosette around the sound hole in combination with inlay around the entire face as well as small cross fret markers going up the fret board
guitar fret crosses
Pearl Cross Fret-markers
Used on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand on the fret board one piece at a time. It's a very tedious, time consuming process but the results are breathtaking
zipper mahogany
Figured Maple Inlay Back-detail
This accent matches the guitars figured binding and abalone inlay perfectly to give it that extra expensive look of a pro series guitar. Laid by hand one piece at a time. Adds to the overall beauty and sets off the color of the wood. Found on only the highest quality guitars in the world.
high gloss finish
High Gloss Finish
High-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age—which is what makes a guitar sound better year after year. A thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.
guitar truss
Custom Adjustment Setting Truss-rod
Denny designs his guitars with a truss rod adjustment setting that allows you to dial in your guitar to your particular playing style. In this way if you're a heavy handed player you can set the action higher so you can "get on it" a little for more power, and if you're lighter handed touch player you can dial in the action low so you can move faster and play longer with less fatigue.
zager aura guitar
2023 Fishman Aura Pro Electronics
Denny wanted only the finest electronics system for the 900 series so he called Larry Fishman at world renowned "Fishman Transducers." Fishman's new Aura digital imaging system allows you to plug into your computer and download hundreds of sound images that have been professionally mixed in Fishmans pro recording studios. You can select from images mixed specifically for your Zager, or hundreds of others depending on the sound you’re looking for. Denny used to spend countless hours in studio time dialing in the perfect sound for his guitars. Fishmans new imaging system does this for you by allowing you to select from images online that will give you the sound you want no matter what you're looking for. Read the reviews, talk to the pros, and you will see this system dominates every guitar electronics package on the market today.
zager aura guitar
Genuine Fishman Aura Built-in-automatic-tuner
Ask any pro who makes the finest guitar electronics systems in the world and 9 out of 10 will say Fishman. An electronic tuner allows you to tune your guitar in a fraction of the time it takes using conventional tuning methods. Simply hit a string and the LCD indicator guides you into perfect pitch. A red and green light instantly lets you know when the tune is dead on. This is a very important tool for the new player who is trying to develop and train their ear for perfect pitch. It's also helps the professional player who wants to get in perfect tune fast.
zager aura guitar
Genuine Fishman Aura Built-in-equalizer
Fishman equalizers are the highest quality equalizers used in acoustic guitars today. The equalizer is an electronic unit that controls the sound and volume when plugged into an amplifier or PA system. There are adjustments for highs, mids, lows, and presence. Fishman EQ's are used exclusively on high end acoustics by artists such as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Alan Jackson and Aerosmith to name just a few
guitar grover gears gold
Genuine Grover (gold) Tuning-machines
Genuine Grover sealed tuning machines are found on only the finest guitars made. Look at tuners on $2500+ acoustics and you will see the majority have "Grovers." Unlike open gear tuners where the tuning mechanism is exposed, Grover sealed tuners contain a lubricant that keep the tuning mechanism sealed air-tight so the gears turn smooth and continue to for the life of your instrument. Lifetime warranty. If you have a tuner go bad we'll replace it free of charge for life.
guitar nut
Bone Hand Carved Nut
Denny hand carves his nuts from bone for each guitar so the strings are set lower with custom spacing. Lower string heights make it easier to press down to form chords and it also increases finger speed. Custom spacing allows you to move faster with less buzzes, mutes, and rattles because you’re no longer bumping adjacent strings. Custom string spacing makes it easier for all hands sizes big and small. Lifetime warranty. Break a nut and we'll replace it free of charge for life
guitar saddle
Tusq Hand Carved Saddle
Denny hand carves each saddle for each individual guitar. Denny also adjusts the intonation settings to bring the guitar harmonically in balance with itself. This not only makes your guitar easier to play, but it also makes it sound more powerful. Customers say our guitars fall into tune easier and stay in tune longer...this is one of the reasons why. Denny uses only genuine "Tusq" brand saddles on his guitars which you generally only find on higher dollar acoustics . Lifetime warranty. Break a saddle and we'll replace it free of charge for life.
zager ez play guitars
Zager Custom Lights Strings
Zager custom strings are designed by Denny exclusively for his Guitars. We have customers using all brands and gauges of strings on our guitars with excellent results (Elixir, Martin, Fender, Gibson, D'addario) but these are the strings our customers seem to like the most on our guitars. Hand wound daily in our shop in Lincoln, Nebraska.
frets
Zager Soft Touch (Hand Filed) Frets
Denny hand files each fret one at a time on every guitar that leaves our shop. By filing the frets Denny achieves two important things. When sliding up and down the neck your fingers will no longer get irritated and sore and you won't suffer from what we call "String Bite" and overall finger fatigue. Secondly, when you file the frets by hand each fret will have the same uniform height. 9 times out of 10 when you have a buzzing string it has nothing to with your playing, it’s because you have a guitar with a fret that’s sitting away from the fret board hitting a string.
life time warranty
Lifetime Warranty
Our warranty is simple. Lifetime on all guitars. A quality guitar should be made to last a lifetime and if it doesn't it wasn't a quality guitar to begin with.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I'll know more after I play it for a while. I play a HD28 Martin, Alvarez Yari JY10, and a Carvin Acoust\elec. All these are really great guitars. My Martin is my main guitar because of it tone and playability even tho they all play great. My first impression of the Zager is good, but I'll know more after I play it for a few sessions.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Plays good, and is true all the way up the neck. Action is a little higher than I like but that can be adjusted.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I'd say in the two to three thousand dollar range.

How would you rate customer support?
Haven't needed any, but I've heard nothing but good things.

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes. First impression for me is it's a good guitar.

Additional comments:
I like quality instruments. I own and play a Mullen Steel Guitar, A Zum Steel that Bruce builds, and I also have a Carter BCT Steel. This Zager guitar if it gets better with time will be one I will keep for many years to come.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
The 900 gives me the same feel as my Martin (1971 vintage) D28 and sounds great, even when new. Looking forward to the sound as the wood settles in

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I love the action of this guitar. It bars almost like a full electric. And the woodwork is beautiful. This is also my first acoustic-electric.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would have thought 3500-4000

How would you rate customer support?
So far, the Zager folks have been wonderful and incredibly responsive, even to simple questions. Nothing seems too trivial for them.

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I certainly would. Play-ability, beauty and quality of workmanship and materials.

Additional comments:
For an ageing guitarist of 62, the ease of action is a real plus. Come on you Boomer players!

Very Good

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes, Because for the value - to price ratio - it is the best in the industry. Moreover, even if it cost more... I would still recommend it.

Additional comments:
I received my new Zager 900CE guitar and I wanted to let you guys know that I am completely satisfied and most impressed with the workmanship, skill and expertise ZAGER put in designing and making this guitar. I have had so many guitars over the years (some of the other top brands) and I wanted to say that this guitar is truly the best I have ever owned! The easy of playing, the rich and profound sound, the beauty and the electronic transducer/pick-up are the right combinations for a “near perfect guitar”. I will be letting all my associates and friends know about the ZAGER custom guitar company.

Model: ZAD-900CE

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
The sound quality was not as deep as my Epiphone...making me a little nervous. I read all the literature that you sent and noted that the guitar would get a deeper tone once the wood cured. When I first began playing it my fingers hurt (I have not played in a while)and I thought easy play? I next played a chord with a light finger touch and laughed out loud at the full rich sound with such a light touch. The playability is all that was promised.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
One cannot choose a single favorite. The beauty out-classes any guitar that I have seen and yes the playability; something that I have to remind my fingers that a hard press is not necessary.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$3,500 to $4500

How would you rate customer support?
Boy do I know about customer support! I ordered my guitar on January 30, 5014 and knew that it was backordered. I emailed Dennis and had an immediate reply with the anticipated delivery month. I emailed him several times in the interim and had a gracious reply each time. When the delivery month arrived I was notified that there would be a delay due to a non satisfactory delivery of materials. I considered canceling my order and purchasing a guitar from a local music store. Dennis gave me this opportunity and said that you would refund me at anytime. I decided to stay the course. I was told that the new delivery date would be the end of June and on the first week in July I had my guitar. Customer support...Great!

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes, the beauty, playability and cost versus lesser quality guitars costing an equal amount are reasons to order a Zager.

Additional comments:
My zad900ce arrived with an upgraded case, a years worth of strings and a very nice guitar strap. All due to the wait time. Now that is taking care of ones customers!

Model: ZAD-900CE

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have 1991 Ovation and a 5003 Takamine, both electro-acoustic. Both are good guitars and I will still love playing them, but it is the sound quality and volume of the sound that makes the ZAD900ce stand out.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Early days and still finding out, but so far the ease of playing, and low string action. The acoustic sound is exceptional.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
£1200 ($1900)

How would you rate customer support?
This is where this company stands out. I live in Scotland, and although I liked the guitars I saw on the website, I was wary of shipping all the way from the USA. I needn't have been. I made an initial e-mail enquiry and got an immediate reply form Dennis Zager Jnr. He reassured me about shipping abroad and walked me through my purchase. The whole experience was quick, efficient and painless, and the added reassurance of a lifetime guarantee is exceptional.

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes. The whole package is exceptional. The ZAD900ce is a quality guitar at a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a guitar I would certainly recommend the Zager brand. Go on give it a go, you won't be sorry...I'm not.

Additional comments:
I've been playing guitar now for about 40 years and have played several models, favouring my Ovation above all so far for its low action, narrow fretboard and ease of playing. The Ovation will always have a place in my heart, but I'm enjoying my ZAD900ce and I'm sure it will mature into a wonderful playing instrument.

Model: ZAD-900CE

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I purchased the 900CE. I have owned several guitars since I was a young boy. I am now 51 years old. I have owned several brands of acoustics (including a non-electric Fender and an electric Esteban). I have played Martins in the last few weeks at music stores in the Houston area. Both brands played very well. The Zegar 900CE is no doubt the best playing and sounding of ANY I have played.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
It's difficult to zero in on one part. Let me say that from the exquisite details of the Venetian Cutaway, the Sitka Spruce Top, the Indian Rosewood back and sides, Hand Bent Figured Maple Binding, African Mahogany with Inlay, the Hand Scalloped bracework, the Full Abalone Inlay, Pearl Fret Marker, Figured Maple Inlay (back), High Gloss Finish, Truss Rod, 5011 Fishman AURA Electronics, Built In Equalizer, Genuine Grover Tuning, Zager Hand Carved Nut, Zager Custom Lights Strings (by Martin), Zager Soft Touch (hand filed) Frets, and the Lifetime Warranty. I said all that to say....EVERYTHING. By the way, I have not fully taken in everything yet!

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Based on my research and seeing the prices of guitars I played in music stores in Houston, I would have to estimate this guitar to be $5000 plus.

How would you rate customer support?
I am Operations Manager for a company here in Houston. I have to deal with people all day long for all kinds of reasons. BAR NONE...Dennis and Jill have gone far beyond the NORM in helping me with everything. There is a reason they are rated #1 in customer support. My emails were and continue to be responded to in a prompt and professional manner. The ethics and principles they use ought to be taught to every company and individual that ever has to work with another company or individual....OUTSTANDING!

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
If you have read what I wrote above....DO I REALLY HAVE TO TYPE ANYTHING HERE? :)

Additional comments:
One thing...my fingers were sore most of the time when I played my Fender. Maybe I had the wrong strings or something. All I know is the quality, the ease of pressing the strings, and the sound that comes from playing the Zegar 900CE can't be really be described. It is something you have to personally experience to understand! AND NO, THEY DIDN'T PAY ME OR AS ME TO TYPE ANY OF THIS.

Model: ZAD-900CE

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
In most instances the sound of the Zagers is superior. The playability is far superior.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The set-up and the action on both of my Zagers are my favorites. They are better than on any other guitars I have tried. Denny has spoiled me with his work and care.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
ZAD-50ce est. $1500 to $1800. ZAD-90ce est. $4500 to $5500.

How would you rate customer support?
Customer service and support has been 12 on a scale of 10. Dennis and Denny have been extremely responsive. As noted above the work done by Denny on the guitars is superb. On customer contact, Dennis is always available and responsive. Dennis responds to any and all inquiries on a very timely basis. All of my questions have been answered in under an hour. The Zagers are always happy to help and to insure customer satisfaction.

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I will gladly recommend Zager to other. The quality and value for money of the Zager guitars cannot be topped.

Additional comments:
Two members of my family are professional musicians. Both of my brothers-in-law have Martins. Neither of them could believe the tremendous quality and the great playability of the Zagers.

Model: ZAD-900CE

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
At the present time I have 7 guitars that range in price from around $ $699.00 to over $3,000.00. Among those is a Gibson,a Martin, a Gretsch, a Takamine & a Framus that I've had for 41 years. I recently purchased a 900ce Zager acoustic/electric From Dennis Zager JR. & from the time I opened up that great looking hard case and saw that absolutely beautiful guitar it was love at first sight! The 900ce is as close as a guitar will ever come to being a fine piece of art. I can honestly say that it plays as good as it looks and it comes with a 100% satisfaction Guarantee that I certainly didn't get with any of my other guitar's. It was a pleasurable experience buying the guitar from Zager and I hope they keep up the great work they are doing for you and me.

What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Sorry but I don't have a favorite part. I love everything about this guitar from the quality woods used, the fine finish, the tone and easy playability. I just don't see how you can top this guitar. I used to think my Gibson J185 was great but it is going to take a back seat to this 900ce.

If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Well my Gibson was over $3000.00 and the 900ce is a far better quality guitar so I would guess between $4,000.00 and $5,000.00.

How would you rate customer support?
I haven't had the need to try customer support as yet except when I ordered the guitar and as I said earlier that was a pleasurable experience done by e-mail & hearing back immediately from Dennis Zager Jr & also Jill.

Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I not only would but already have recommended it to a friend of mine because it is my personal opinion that you are going to have to go a long ways to find a guitar of this quality for the price I paid for it.

Additional comments:
I just wanted to thank my fishing buddy Skip for telling me about Zager guitar's. You were justified in bragging about what a great guitar Zager is making.
