60 years of playing, performing and teaching guitar has given Denny an advantage over the majority of guitar builders today. Denny understands the demands of the professional player because he is one. He discovered there are certain key elements that make a great guitar, and with that knowledge he created the Zager ZAD80 Series. Elements like solid wood construction, high quality hardware, a custom neck design that feels good in your hand, string spacing that allows you to move faster on the fretboard, that simultaneously prevents buzzes and rattles, combined with a special bracing system that produces one of the best sounds in the guitar industry today. Pros using the ZAD80 “OM” size Pro Series say it matches or betters $2000 instruments, but with easier playability and a lower price since you’re buying direct from our workshop in Lincoln, Nebraska. Be sure to read artist comments and magazine reviews on the 80 as it consistently rates in the top 5% of acoustics made world wide. 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. It’s a lifetime instrument so it comes with a lifetime warranty. Truly a work of art with a stunning sound that will get better year after year.
- Smaller “OM Size” Orchestra Model. 15% smaller than full size. Similar to Martin OOO and Taylor Grand Auditorium. Narrower hour glass shape sits lower in your lap making it easier to pull in close under your arm. Thinner body provides a slightly thinner sound but doesn’t overpower mics in the recording studio.
- Solid wood construction sounds better every year as it ages.
- Hand carved bracing for greater movement of the soundboard providing a richer sound.
- Slim neck design feels natural in your hand making it easier to form chords.
- Custom string spacing for greater speed and accuracy (and less rattles).
- Zager soft touch fret design for less string bite and finger fatigue.
- Adjustable truss rod to raise or lower action depending on your playing style.
- Special ultra thin high gloss finish allows more movement of the body for deeper sound
- Hand carved bone nut and saddle. (Found on predominantly $1500+ guitars).
- Hand laid abalone inlay rosette with pearl fret markers.
- Ivory binding detail and zipper stripe down back (Found in predominantly $1500+ guitars).
- Genuine Grover tuning machines (best in the world).
- 100% money back guarantee
- Lifetime warranty

Western Red Cedar Top The most important part of an acoustic guitar is its top. The top acts like a speaker. When a string is plucked energy is transferred to the top and the top starts to move. Cedar is softer than spruce, and that softness translates into a sense of sonic warmth. Cedar guitars sound warmer, deeper and slightly richer. Used on only the highest quality acoustics in the world.
Indian Rosewood Back-sides One of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time. Where mahogany lends itself to the midrange, rosewoods sonic profile is deeper in the low end. Not to take anything away from mahogany as many players will find it difficult to tell them apart, but the dedicated ear will notice a deeper, richer, sweeter tone coming from a rosewood guitar. Many players don’t know that cedar is one of the few woods that can outperform spruce when paired with rosewood which is why Denny uses a Western red cedar top with Indian rosewood back and sides on his 80 series guitars. |
Mahogany Neck Mahogany—one of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars for the last 50 years
Indian Rosewood Headstock Indian rosewood is commonly found on high-end guitars. This wood is heavier and more dense than mahogany and also is very stable and resonant. East Indian Rosewood is dark brown with sometimes purple-brown streaks giving a pleasant figure. The guitar head stock configuration is a registered trademark and is used under license from C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA.
Zager Design (Hand Scalloped) Bracework The technique of scalloping or shaving the braces can have a huge impact on the power and tone of an acoustic guitar. By shaving or reducing the thickness of the brace, it becomes more flexible and therefore lets the top move more freely. When done by a Master Luthier the brace maintains its structural integrity, while making the top more efficient. The result is faster attack, longer sustain, more bass, more power, and an overall improvement in the whole tone system.
Full Abalone Inlay Inlay Abalone inlay is found on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand one piece at a time, the color and translucence of each piece changes with different amounts of light. Not only does it add to the overall look of your guitar, but it also adds to the value. Our 900 Pro Series guitars have an inlay rosette around the sound hole in combination with inlay around the entire face as well as small cross fret markers going up the fret board
Pearl Cross Fret-markers Used on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand on the fret board one piece at a time. It's a very tedious, time consuming process but the results are breathtaking
Zipper Stripe Back-detail Laid by hand one piece at a time. Adds to the overall beauty and sets off the color of the wood. Found on only the highest quality guitars in the world.
High Gloss Finish High-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age—which is what makes a guitar sound better year after year. A thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.
Custom Adjustment Setting Truss-rod Denny designs his guitars with a truss rod adjustment setting that allows you to dial in your guitar to your particular playing style. In this way if you're a heavy handed player you can set the action higher so you can "get on it" a little for more power, and if you're lighter handed touch player you can dial in the action low so you can move faster and play longer with less fatigue.
Genuine Fishman Built-in-transducer Fishman transducers are the highest quality transducers used in acoustic guitars today. A transducer is an amplification device placed under the saddle which allows you to plug into an amplifier and play an acoustic guitar like an electric guitar. This is all run by an on-board electronics package and equalizer that allows you to control the sound. A transducer properly installed by a pro luthier will bring out the bass response and rich ambiance of your guitar's wood. Done improperly your guitar will sound flat and have uneven tone quality.
Genuine Fishman Built-in-automatic-tuner Ask any pro who makes the finest guitar electronics systems in the world and 9 out of 10 will say Fishman. An electronic tuner allows you to tune your guitar in a fraction of the time it takes using conventional tuning methods. Simply hit a string and the LCD indicator guides you into perfect pitch. A red and green light instantly lets you know when the tune is dead on. This is a very important tool for the new player who is trying to develop and train their ear for perfect pitch. It's also helps the professional player who wants to get in perfect tune fas
Genuine Fishman Built-in-equalizer Fishman equalizers are the highest quality equalizers used in acoustic guitars today. The equalizer is an electronic unit that controls the sound and volume when plugged into an amplifier or PA system. There are adjustments for highs, mids, lows, and presence. Fishman EQ's are used exclusively on high end acoustics by artists such as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Alan Jackson and Aerosmith to name just a few.
Genuine Grover (gold) Tuning-machines Genuine Grover sealed tuning machines are found on only the finest guitars made. Look at tuners on $2500+ acoustics and you will see the majority have "Grovers." Unlike open gear tuners where the tuning mechanism is exposed, Grover sealed tuners contain a lubricant that keep the tuning mechanism sealed air-tight so the gears turn smooth and continue to for the life of your instrument. Lifetime warranty. If you have a tuner go bad we'll replace it free of charge for life.
Bone Hand Carved Nut Denny hand carves his nuts from bone for each guitar so the strings are set lower with custom spacing. Lower string heights make it easier to press down to form chords and it also increases finger speed. Custom spacing allows you to move faster with less buzzes, mutes, and rattles because you’re no longer bumping adjacent strings. Custom string spacing makes it easier for all hands sizes big and small. Lifetime warranty. Break a nut and we'll replace it free of charge for life
Tusq Hand Carved Saddle Denny hand carves each saddle for each individual guitar. Denny also adjusts the intonation settings to bring the guitar harmonically in balance with itself. This not only makes your guitar easier to play, but it also makes it sound more powerful. Customers say our guitars fall into tune easier and stay in tune longer...this is one of the reasons why. Denny uses only genuine "Tusq" brand saddles on his guitars which you generally only find on higher dollar acoustics . Lifetime warranty. Break a saddle and we'll replace it free of charge for life.
Zager Custom Lights Strings Zager custom strings are designed by Denny exclusively for his Guitars. We have customers using all brands and gauges of strings on our guitars with excellent results (Elixir, Martin, Fender, Gibson, D'addario) but these are the strings our customers seem to like the most on our guitars. Hand wound daily in our shop in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Zager Soft Touch (Hand Filed) Frets Denny hand files each fret one at a time on every guitar that leaves our shop. By filing the frets Denny achieves two important things. When sliding up and down the neck your fingers will no longer get irritated and sore and you won't suffer from what we call "String Bite" and overall finger fatigue. Secondly, when you file the frets by hand each fret will have the same uniform height. 9 times out of 10 when you have a buzzing string it has nothing to with your playing, it’s because you have a guitar with a fret that’s sitting away from the fret board hitting a string.
Lifetime Warranty Our warranty is simple. Lifetime on all guitars. A quality guitar should be made to last a lifetime and if it doesn't it wasn't a quality guitar to begin with. |

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
In comparison to my other guitars this Zag-50 is equal to or greater in workmanship and playability than they are.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The sound. My wife says its sound is far better than the guitar that I play most of the time.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
The price is amazing it is by far more affordable with workmanship equal to the top class of guitars. I don't have the money to buy a top of the line Martin, Takamine, or some of the other top brands, but the Zager is affordable and the sound, workmanship, finish is top quality.
How would you rate customer support?
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest they are a 10+
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes I would recommend the Zager - 50 to anyone. If your money is tight and you like to play buy a Zager
Additional comments:
I love this guitar it fulfills my every need in having a quality guitar at a very affordable price.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I own 14 guitars, 6 of them acoustic, none of them can touch the Zager. It plays with more depth, with crisper 'enunciation' between strings, and with a touch light enough to play for hours.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
How well it ages. The sound gets better and better and it still holds its' tune even with my pulling on the strings and bending notes frequently.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Minimum of a few thousand, it easily compares with Martins.
How would you rate customer support?
Top notch. Friendly and responsive. Well, and also knew what I was talking about, which is rare these days.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I not only would, but have. I know that when they receive their Zager, I will never regret the recommendation, if they aren't satisfied with their guitar, then I have gravely misjudged their ability to appreciate it.
Additional comments:
I am sorry that I have waited so long to post this review, but now I have the opportunity to brag about the excellent aging qualities. By the way, how about an electric classical style guitar? I would love to sing some softer ballads to my wife.

this guitar is superior in workmanship and tonal quality. the action makes this guitar so fun to play that I rarely play any other instrument.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My zad50ce has a sound so rich and brite. Holds it's own with guitars 3 to 4 times it's cost.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
This guitar would easily compare to $1500 to $2000 intruments in workmanship playability and tone.
How would you rate customer support?
What little I have need them has been responsive and friendly, but in two years, my zad50ce has performed flawlessly.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Not only would I, but I constantly brag to every one I have a chance.
Additional comments:
not only has the intrument been a pleasure to own, the whole buying experience was wonderful. The only flaw was that the delivery service broke one of my strings on delivery.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have a 65 Fender mustamg electric. Plays as easy but obviusly it is not acustic. Zad 50 plays well, The sound is as good as my brothers d-28 Martin I really think it would take digital equipment to tell the difference,The Big difference was about $5000.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I lke the string spacing and the over all look and feel. This guitar does not look or sound like a $500 guitar.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I really think it would be around $1500 to $2000 in a shop.
How would you rate customer support?
So far I have not needed any, guitar and case arived in tune and perfect with a life time guarantee. I have no doubts. If I needed support the Zager family is only a phone call or e-mail away.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes i would. Especially to a beginner. It is alot of guitar for the price.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have a wonderful Martin D 28 and my new zad80ce sounds every bit as good even though it hasn't been played out at all. I have recently played a number of Martins and though they are magnificent, they don't sound any better or look any better than my Zager.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I am partial to the cedar top because of the bright mids and highs.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$2000.00+
How would you rate customer support?
Incredible: They have answered all of my questions and done everything they said they would do.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Though I have only had my 80ce for a few days I would recommend it to anyone who wants a quality guitar at a reasonable price.
Additional comments:
I am a skeptical buyer, especially on line, and the absense of negative reviews appeared supiscious to me. I read every review I could find and decided to take the chance on a Zager. The lifetime warranty, 40+ year history along with the money back garantee took away all of the risk. I am blown away by the quality of appearance and sound.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have a collection of 7 acoustics and one electric. I have a Martin HD28 a Gibson Songwriter, a Guild 50, craftsmanship it is as good as any guitar including my Martin. Sound wise my Zager is brand new I am sure in a few monthsit will break in and be right up there with my top 3 guitars.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Boy that is a tough one . Humm. If I had to pick one thing I would have to say the smoothness of the neck, my fingers seem to just glide over the fretboard. So easy to form a chord or hit the notes.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I have to tell you that a few of my buddies were over the house and when I showed them my new Zager 80ce. they all thought it was over over $2000.00 guitar. When I told them it was $1100.00 shipped to my door they were amazed.
How would you rate customer support?
I could not ask for any better service. Denny Jr. is very eager to please. when have you ever heard of getting an answer to a question with 5 mins. Most places I have dealt with and there has been quit a few, it was once they got your money they forgot you . NOT WITH ZAGER, it is just the opposite. I know you will have a pleasant surprise if you buy from the Zagers. You will also love your guitar as I do.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would definitely recommend even my closest friends, and family to buy a Zager guitar. 100% Quality Product, service A1, any time you call. What more could a player want.
Additional comments:
I have to say to the Zagers that you run a very efficient operation. let alone your Top Shelf service. You make a new costumer feel at home from the first encounter. I wish your operation was here in Illinois. And No, I don't work for this Zager company, as much as I would like to.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This guitar is by far a superior instrument to anything I have ever held in my hands or heard played in the circles I frequent, I own three other guitars and this one blows them all out of the water!
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
the ease of fingering the chords.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
judging by the other guitars out there that I have tried I would say this guitar would be at least in the $1500.00 plus range.
How would you rate customer support?
The people at Zager are first class business people and have answered any and all questions I have asked and certainly go above and beyond anything I expected.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I will recommend this guitar to anyone, but I wouldn't have to say a word if they picked it up and play it the instrument will sell it self, its that good.
Additional comments:
I would like to thank the Zager family and especially Dennis Zager for building such an high end guitar and keeping it affordable so people like my self can own one, as I have read somewhere before, "the world needs more guitar players", the Zagers are going to make that happen one guitar at a time.

Additional comments:
I noticed some very negative posts yesterday when I was looking through the website. I want anyone reading this to know that I just received my Zager 80 and could not be happier with it. I have had similar experiences in my business, where if you are beating the competition with quality and price advantages, the slime starts flowing. An amusing anecdote for you: When I played my Zager 80 for the first time the other day, I couldn't put it down for 6 hours or so. The sound was amazing but my finger tips were on fire! Really sore. I was reading reviews and testimonials last night from other Zager owners about how they play for hours with no pain. Then the light went on! I was playing the Zager as if I was playing my Martin, pressing just as hard on the strings! So I took out my Zager and started strumming some chords with minimal pressure on the neck. I was amazed! I was getting the same wonderful sound with a fraction of the pressure, and therefore, no pain! I finally understand the uniqueness of the design. My other guitar, my first, a Guild F112 from 1972 or so, will be sold on Ebay in another 7 hours to pay for this guitar. I will not be taking advantage of the money back guarantee!! I am a very satisfied customer and have already recommended the Zager to my guitar playing friends.

My Zager guitar surpasses all guitars that I have owned and gives Martin a real competition.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Definitely the sound. It's rich, loud and truly beautiful.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would compare the price to a high end Martin (approx $5000).

10 out of 10. Amazing customer support. I have never experienced such wonderful interactions with a vendor. Thank you.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
The Zager 80 fit and finish is just as good as high end guitars I have owned, and even better than some. I have had several early red label "quality" Yamahas, Martin D28, Guild D35, and Gibson J55 and Hummingbird. Some were trade ups, a couple stolen. I have only my original Yamaha FG300 and my Zager ZAD80 ; that's all I need. I love the bass of my FG300, but the ZAD80 is so much more comfortable to play, so it's the guitar I use for gigs and just sit around leisure playing.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I have no one favorite thing ; it is as a whole that makes it my favorite guitar. The ZAD80 is lighter weight than my other dreadnoughts, has light action feel so no fatigue, is well built so holds up to use and transport, stays in tune due to quality construction and materials including high end tuners, and is as attractive appearance guitar as any other I've seen.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
If I had first visited a music store that had a Zager, the first thing I would have noticed is the light action. Second would have been the dead-on intonation all the way up the scale. Third would have been the superb finish, quality fit construction, and Grover tuners. Having owned high dollar guitars, I would have expected $2500. and not been surprised to see around $3000.
How would you rate customer support?
I was so interested in trying a "Zager" when I found it on the internet, that I called in stead of emailing to get more information. Was informed of the return guarantee and the warranty, so ordered one then and there. Was in stock, so received it a few days later. Have had "ZERO" issues with the guitar ever since and it's been over 5 years now. Therfore, I have had not had to test the support, but since it is a family owned and run business and not some dealer outlet, I would imagine prompt and positive support to be what one would receive.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I HAVE and WILL continue to recommend "Zager" guitars to all who ask. It is indeed rare to find a product that sells for a bargain price but equals the quality of it's like product that sells for more. In the case of Zager guitars though, price is only the bottom factor. It is the ease of playing, rich tone, and stage ready performance, that allows me praise the Zager guitar as I do.
Additional comments:
I played a Fender Contempo organ in band, while still in high school in the late 60s. Left for college and couldn't carry around an organ and amplifier, so bought a used Gibson guitar a started to learn to play. I have never played professionally, but have done many personal gigs over the years. Am nearing retirement now, so only play for self entertainment. Am going to retire my original Zager along side my original FG300, but now have the hard choice of choosing a new guitar. It WILL be a Zager ........ , just can't say which one ( or two ) just yet.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This guitar is leaps and bounds better than my other Guitars. It is my go to guitar, and my others are now collecting dust. The action is spot on, no buzzing, the sound is Rich and full, and it is very easy to play. I can play it for hours, without feeling like I have.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The action on this guitar is perfect. Zager have a way of setting up these guitars, that makes them easy to play, and delivers amazing sound. If you are just learning, or are an experienced player, you will appreciate the ease at which this guitar can be played.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
When shopping for a new guitar, I tried out several guitars ranging from $700-$1800, and I would say this guitar plays and sounds better than all of them.
How would you rate customer support?
Zager customer service is amazing. Before purchasing, I had several questions, that were answered almost instantly by Dennis Zager, jr. He gave me all the information I needed, and assurances that if I didn't like it, I could send it back, at no cost to me. They take customer service seriously, and deliver.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would recomend this guitar without reservation. It is my favorite guitar, and I tell anyone who will listen, about how much I like it. Everyone that I know who has come over has used it, seems to agree with me, and are amazed at how little it costs compared to other top of the line guitars. It's sound, low action, and build in tuner make it a joy to use, and it is a guitar that can be used for long periods of time without your hands getting tired, or sore. That, and the amazing customer service make buying this guitar a no-brainer decision, if you are looking for a nice new guitar.
Additional comments:
I have read some of the bad comments about this guitar and the Zager company, and honestly do not understand where they come from. As a guitar player, and owner of a Zager, I can say the quality of the guitar, and the set up done by Zager is all to notch, and I just don't understand why some people put this guitar down. I would suggest any serious guitar player (or for that matter, any beginner) try it out. I think once you play it, you will be amazed at its sound and action. Dennis Zager, jr and his father have an amazing product, and are a great American company, that deserves respect in the guitar world, for providing a great product, that anyone can use and enjoy. while experienced players will love it, I think this is one of the best, if not the best guitar for beginners, as the action on this guitar makes it easy to learn, when starting out. However, this should not be seen only as a beginners guitar, as even us older players can enjoy the sound and playability this guitar has to offer. I want to thank the Zagers for producing a great product. I hope this review helps, and if you do order one, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!!

It\'s sound, low action, and build in tuner make it a joy to use, and it is a guitar that can be used for long periods of time without your hands getting tired, or sore. That, and the amazing customer service make buying this guitar a no-brainer decision, if you are looking for a nice new guitar.
Additional comments:
I have read some of the bad comments about this guitar and the Zager company, and honestly do not understand where they come from. As a guitar player, and owner of a Zager, I can say the quality of the guitar, and the set up done by Zager is all to notch, and I just don\'t understand why some people put this guitar down. However, this should not be seen only as a beginners guitar, as even us older players can enjoy the sound and playability this guitar has

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I\'m 54 years old and didn\'t really get into playing the guitar until about 4-5 years ago. I wished I had started earlier, but I was into art and painted paintings for about 50+ years. I grew up listening to my dad playing his dad\'s Martin D-28, so I know a good sounding guitar when I hear it. My Zager guitar Zad-50 CE plays so easy. Your fingers don\'t get sore. I love my zad 50ce. My goal in the long term was to by myself a d-28 Martin, but didn\'t want to put out about $2500.00 to $2800.00 or even more. Since I have bought my Zad50ce, the desire to purchase a Martin D-28 or any other acoustic has left. I believe my ZaD50 \"SOUNDS EVERY BIT\", as good if not better than a Martin. As a matter of fact, the guy I play guitar with has a few high dollar Gibson\'s and I think my Zager sounds as well as any of them $2500.00 + guitars. On Zager\'s customer service, they will get back with you quick. O\'h let me tell you, you have no problem purchasing one and and chance loos

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This instrument smashes my other guitar to splinters in every way. I was about to make a purchase of a Martin but when I mentioned that to my instructor he suggested Zager Guitars as another excellent guitar to consider.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Wow, that's like asking if I like air, eating or sleeping better. The first thing was how visually striking the instrument is. Then when you pick it up, it has both a light but solid feel. Almost like it's hand-crafted just for you. That all said, the sound, tone and quality is beyond anything I've experienced.

First-rate. I've exchanged several emails with Denny Zager and he's always responded within 50 mins of hitting Send. I still can't believe the owner of the company actually is that responsive with any email. Simply astounding service.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
To anyone I know who plays. This is simply the single most enjoyable guitar I've played and I will make sure I tell that to anyone who will listen.
Additional comments:
It's a gorgeous instrument that plays and sounds as good as it looks. Any trepidation of buying a guitar on-line without playing it first was totally unfounded. I am absolutely amazed that such an affordable guitar looks and sounds like a $5000 instrument and would not have believed it until I played it myself.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have played guitar for 40 years and owned an Epiphone, Guild 12-string and Takamine G Series dreadnought. Although each of those guitars had their merits, the Zager guitar has proven to exceed them all in quality, pleasure and playability.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite aspect of the Zager is its beautiful musicality. Notes ring out like bells, and the sustain carries them on and on. The tone is rich and full. The action makes it relatively easy to bridge and move up and down the neck, easier than friends' Baby Martin. The full sound extracts the most from hammering, and the geometry of the strings and neck invite bluesy riffs, bluegrass trills and nice bent notes.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would have expected this guitar to be more expensive than it was, especially with the holiday sale pricing I took advantage of.

Customer support has been great. Denny accommodated my request to pay over time, although it was not an option on the website. With a personal note, he or his staff acknowledged each payment I made. I received prompt notice when the guitar shipped and equally prompt follow-up when it arrived. I now wear with pride the Zager T-shirt that accompanied my order gratis.

I would recommend this guitar without reservation. The 3/4 Travel is especially sweet for someone small like myself who wants a full sound without being dwarfed by some mega-guitar. Anyone who wants to play a beautifully made and sonorous instrument should consider one of the Zager guitars.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have a $600 Yamaha, a $550 Ibanez (both acoustic electric) and a $650 12 string Washburn that plays beautifully. While I like each of these for certain reasons, they have not stood out when playing with friends. Who wants to keep switching guitars for different types of music? My friends have Martins and higher quality guitars. I wanted one that could play many types of music and play it both easily and with high quality. The ZAD-50CE blew me away. The sound was as good or better than the Martin's I've played and heard and we all know that Martins have pretty much been the standard of guitars when comparisons are to be made.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite part is the ease of playing. I literally can't put it down. I have 3 electric guitars (and a mandolin) and while each have their place, I've found myself grabbing the acoustic the greater majority of the time.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I frequent local guitar centers to play as many different brands and styles of guitars (and to listen and learn from other players) regularly. Before I pick up the guitar to get a feel for it at these guitar shops, I always look at the price and usually, the ones I like most are above the $1500 price tag. I'd love one of these but I am a reasonable and responsible person and as I can't let go of that kind of cash. I think that the ZAD-50CE could easily fetch $1200 maybe even $1500 and it sounds like a $2500 Martin in this person's mind.

I own a small business and have been told hundreds of times how fast I respond to emails and returning calls. That's easy since we are a small company. I know Zager isn't huge but they are certainly larger than my company and the 4 times I've emailed, the longest time it took for a response was under 1 hour. I think anything in 8-12 hours is exceptional so under 1 hour is not something you see in today's world. And, these are canned emails either. They are in direct response to the question.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I have already recommended Zager and dare someone who is looking to buy a new acoustic to try Zager after trying anything within $500 of the price of a Zager. I am sure that more than 90% of the time, they'll end up with a Zager.
Additional comments:
I almost feel guilty playing this guitar. It now feels like a part of me....an extension of my body. It's that effortless. I'm sure this a very strong statement and probably not everyone who plays one will feel this way. Maybe my other guitars were very bad (but I don't think so) but I am now going to be very spoiled playing anything else. And when I let someone enjoy playing my guitar, I won't be far away to make sure they don't walk off with it.
