Our 3/4 Size travel guitars have the same features as our full size guitars except they’re 25% smaller. They’re ideal for children and small adults. They’re great for travel and can be stored in very small places. They also make a great second guitar for the home or office. What separates our small guitars from other small guitars is that Denny builds them just like his big guitars with high quality woods and pro hardware. This means your guitar will sound sweeter and more powerful year after year because quality woods only get better with age. 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. 60 years of playing, performing and teaching has given Denny an advantage over the majority of guitar builders today. Denny understands the demands of the professional player because he is one. He discovered there are certain key elements that make a great guitar, and with that knowledge he created our 3/4 Travel Series. Elements like solid wood construction, high quality hardware, a custom neck design that feels good in your hand, string spacing that allows you to move faster on the fretboard, that simultaneously prevents buzzes and rattles, combined with a special bracing system that produces one of the best sounds in the guitar industry today. Magazine reviews and customer testimonials say the Zager 3/4 Travel outperforms guitars from the top 2 guitar makers at twice its price. Where else are you going to find a custom handmade guitar worked on by a Master luthier for under $1000? 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. Lifetime warranty.

Mahogany Top The most important part of an acoustic guitar is its top. The top acts like a speaker. When a string is plucked energy is transferred to the top and the top starts to move. Mahogany has all the characteristics of a great tonewood; its weight and strength allow for well-defined ranges of tone as well as strong volume. It's a little harder wood with better projection and real character in the grain. It works easily and displays beautiful figure, everything from straight-grained to flamed, quilt, curl, and mottled.
Mahogany Back-sides One of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars today. If you’re looking for punchy bass, solid mids and sparkling highs mahogany is the wood you want on your next guitar. Acoustic guitars in general tend to live in the midrange portion of the sound spectrum, and mahogany in particular displays this characteristic best. Mahogany's tendency to emphasize midrange tones gives this guitar a rich full sound no matter the playing style. You can fingerpick, strum, or flatpick and mahogany always delivers. |
Mahogany Neck Mahogany—one of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars for the last 50 years
Mahogany Headstock Mahogany is lightweight yet strong, and its timeless look is used on many quality guitars. The guitar head stock configuration is a registered trademark and is used under license from C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA.
Abalone Rosette Abalone type inlay is found on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand one piece at a time, the color and translucence of each piece changes with different amounts of light. Not only does it add to the look of your guitar, but it also adds to the value.
High Gloss Finish High-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to age—which is what makes a guitar sound better year after year. A thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging.
Custom Adjustment Setting Truss-rod Denny designs his guitars with a truss rod adjustment setting that allows you to dial in your guitar to your particular playing style. In this way if you're a heavy handed player you can set the action higher so you can "get on it" a little for more power, and if you're lighter handed touch player you can dial in the action low so you can move faster and play longer with less fatigue.
Bone Hand Carved Nut Denny hand carves his nuts from bone for each guitar so the strings are set lower with custom spacing. Lower string heights make it easier to press down to form chords and it also increases finger speed. Custom spacing allows you to move faster with less buzzes, mutes, and rattles because you’re no longer bumping adjacent strings. Custom string spacing makes it easier for all hands sizes big and small. Lifetime warranty. Break a nut and we'll replace it free of charge for life
Tusq Hand Carved Saddle Denny hand carves each saddle for each individual guitar. Denny also adjusts the intonation settings to bring the guitar harmonically in balance with itself. This not only makes your guitar easier to play, but it also makes it sound more powerful. Customers say our guitars fall into tune easier and stay in tune longer...this is one of the reasons why. Denny uses only genuine "Tusq" brand saddles on his guitars which you generally only find on higher dollar acoustics . Lifetime warranty. Break a saddle and we'll replace it free of charge for life.
Zager Custom Lights Strings Zager custom strings are designed by Denny exclusively for his Guitars. We have customers using all brands and gauges of strings on our guitars with excellent results (Elixir, Martin, Fender, Gibson, D'addario) but these are the strings our customers seem to like the most on our guitars. Hand wound daily in our shop in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Zager Soft Touch (Hand Filed) Frets Denny hand files each fret one at a time on every guitar that leaves our shop. By filing the frets Denny achieves two important things. When sliding up and down the neck your fingers will no longer get irritated and sore and you won't suffer from what we call "String Bite" and overall finger fatigue. Secondly, when you file the frets by hand each fret will have the same uniform height. 9 times out of 10 when you have a buzzing string it has nothing to with your playing, it’s because you have a guitar with a fret that’s sitting away from the fret board hitting a string.
Lifetime Warranty Our warranty is simple. Lifetime on all guitars. A quality guitar should be made to last a lifetime and if it doesn't it wasn't a quality guitar to begin with. |

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I currently also own a Fender T-Bucket. The ZAD50cespecial is superior in tone and ease of play. The Fender is nice but I love the rich tone of the ZAD50. I'm also now able to play barre chords. On the Fender I can but is much more difficult and usually can't play them in a quick chord progression.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Ease of play and the rich tone. It looks good too!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would guess about $1200
How would you rate customer support?
Awesome!!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
YES! A great value for the money and a great place to do business with
Additional comments:
Keep up the good work! I've learned so much from Denny's help video's.

First accoustic guitar purcahse ever. But within a month, I have bought three Zagers and exchanged one for another. It went like this: Bought ZAG80CE; bought the Parlor Mohagaony; Exhchanged the Parlor for ZAD50Black; Bought Travel Mahogany. And all of this without taking a lesson.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
So I ended up with a ZAG80CE; ZAG50Black; and Travel Mahogany. I love the way every one of them looks and sounds--even the Zager Travel. I travel a lot and have a beach house--so the 3/4 is a travel guitar. Fret board dimensions are essentially the same as full size and it plays great--some loss of sound quality do to downsizing but it earns its space in the line-up.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I have no idea. Went for my first guitar lesson ever today. Took the ZAG20. It was mostly an intro of where I want to go with lessons. After 20 minutes of chat, teacher said, so what the heck is in the case? She never heard of Zager. When I opened case, I got "ooh--very nice". She picked it up, played it and loved it: the sound and the ease of play. She loved it and so do I.
How would you rate customer support?
I have never dealt with more Customer-oriented people than I have at Zager. Hard to explain. But thtough numerous conversations with Denny, Denny JR. and others, it is obvious that they want to make customers happy. Case in point: when I told Denny Jr via email that I didnt want the Zager Parlor I had bought, he said they will do whatever I want. When I said I wanted ZAD50Black, they immediately shipped it, and then sent UPS return slip to me via email. In other words, they sent a replacement before I returned original. All I can say is, incredible. I now have full confidence in doing business with the Zagers and would recommend them to anybody for any thing. They are terrific.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would recommend it, and already have, to anyone who will listen. I went to Sam Ash and have played well over fifty accoustics priced from $100 to $5000. I have no concerns in recommending any of my purchases to anyone.
Additional comments:
I am an auditor by trade--very skeptical and leary about anything I don't know. It was a big leap of faith for me to buy my first Zager--and number two and then three were rather easy. Still early in the game for me--but I have no regrets whatsoever. This is virtually a no risk transaction and it is hard for me to believe that most who buy at Zager will not be totally satisfied. Don't know what else to say--but I have never had a buying experience like this--NEVER!!!!

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This guitar is amazing. I researched and played a few guitars before finally deciding on this Zager. The worksmanship and quality of the Zager is amazing and I am impressed with the detail work put into it. I played some a Martin around the time of purchasing this guitar and consider it to be as solid of quality as the Martin.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I really like the EZ play system and the thin neck and frets. It truly sets the playability of this guitar apart. I am also a fan of the electronics and the solid wood, especially the cedar top.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$2500-$3000, it plays very near the quality of a $2500 Martin and I prefer the Zager.
How would you rate customer support?
Zager customer support is through the roof. Customer care and support sold me on Zager almost as much as the guitar. I love the money back guarantee (though I can't imagine ever using it). Denny Jr. is the master at making the customer feel appreciated.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
This is a quality instrument that competes well with the big boys. Zager delivers an exceptional product and I can't imagine being disappointed with the product. Anyone looking for an incredible guitar at an affordable price needs to look into Zager.
Additional comments:
When UPS delivered my new Zager it felt like I was opening a Mac. I loved the simple way that Zager makes the customer feel like King. Having purchased the ZAD80 I cannot imagine how well the ZAD900 series plays. Zager makes an incredible guitar.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
Although I have always primarily been an electric and classical player, I have owned several acoustics in the past - namely a Daion and a Martin Sigma. I consider both previous guitars to be good guitars that I purchased only after trying dozens of other brands and models. That being said, the Zager guitar is clearly on another level. Even allowing for the fact that it was in a price bracket above my previous guitars; I would put it equal or above the finest guitars that I have tried. Perhaps reminiscent of the top-end Ovations that I loved, but never bought due to the price.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The sound stands out. While the setup and Easy Play aspects are great, when I am playing, their contribution is more a lack of intrusion or hindrance to my playing. The sound, however, is extremely clean and clear. Whether playing finger style or with a pick, the guitar has a bright, clear sound that allows good separation of parts and ringing chords. I envision the guitar sounding better still with use and age.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
1200 +
How would you rate customer support?
Support is excellent. Thoughtout the process, Dennis Zager sent emails updating the status of the order and also promptly answered any questions I had.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would defnately reccomend a Zager guitar to anyone looking for an acoustic. I especially think that this would be the perfect acoustic for electric players looking for their first acoustic. The neck and action are closer to the feel of a good electric than most other acoustics, and so would make for a seamless entry.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
My other current guitar is a 50 year old Yamaha FG-411S which has been a workhorse. I have been looking for something that may be somewhat easier on my chording hand, though and the Zager feels great. Plays much easiier than my old 1978 model Ovation.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
It has a great sound! That's what's most important about a guitar. But being easier to play is an incredible bonus. Oh, by the way, the mahogany finish is fantastic!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
At least twice what I paid.

Is there an eleven on a 10 point scale? I've never done business with anyone who tries harder at making you comfortable and secure with a purchasing decision. Better than 1st class.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes, I would. Even if it hadn't been what I was looking for, I would have recommended the company. But, it's exactly what I wanted...sound, playability and looks.
Additional comments:
This was my first Zager (not sure if it will be my last or not. I may not ever want to let this one go to pick up another). If I ever do look for another guitar, Zager will get the first look. Thanks, Denny for the care and love you have for producing a quality instrument;and thanks, Dennis for running the best customer care program I've ever seen.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I currently have an Ovation 1868 Elite. I love both and will continue to play it, BUT, it's hard to put the Zager down, there is NO comparison as far as playability! NO COMPARISON!!! I'm sure my other guitars will start collecting a little dust!
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite part is the playability. So effortless, my Martin and Ovation both play great, BUT,the Zager is like driving a luxury car...with the cruise control on! Able to do things I have never done before, a true quality instrument!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
If I were in a music shop, and picked up this guitar and played it for 30 minutes, I would not been surprised to see a $1000-$1500 price tag on it...and I would probably pay that!
How would you rate customer support?
Haven't had it long enough to need customer support, but I can already tell the Zagers will bend over backwards to help! A true pleasure to deal with!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I will definitely recommend Zager to everyone. Reason being...quality, sound, looks, friendly dealings and most importantly, PLAYABILITY!!!
Additional comments:
I am 110% pleased with my purchase. Prior to purchase I sent several emails, all answered within minutes. I can tell this was a great move on my part, I will be making more purchase from Zager. I cannot say it enough...GREATEST playing guitar I have EVER picked up!!! And on top of that, a friendly, family owned company backing my purchase! DO NOT hesitate to buy a Zager!!!

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
In 1 word-OUTSTANDING! It's slightly softer in tone than my Yamaha but extremely pleasant. I feel it exceeds what I've tried in stores.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The playability. I have a bad left hand and the lower string height along with the thinner neck really makes playing much more enjoyable and comfortable. A 2nd note, the wood coloring is just beautifully done, very professional.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I'd guess it to be in the $800-$1000 range.
How would you rate customer support?
The best I've ever experienced. Denny was extremely quick and helpful with his responses. No sugar-coating, he was up-front and honest on every issue I brought up to him. Even befor shipping out my guitar he sent a picture for approval. I only have 1 suggestion-Do not change a thing!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Definately would and I plan on doing so because I honestly feel this is the best value anyone can get for a guitar, both in the quality of the instrument as well as the price and customer service.
Additional comments:
All I can say is a great big Thank You to Denny for all the help he supplied me. This was 1 rare occasion where you can tell this company really cares about their customers along with offering such a wonderful product for the price. What an overall outstanding job you've done.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This guitar is SO much fun to play. I have a hard time putting it down. For me that's the big key. I've had reasonably nice acoustic guitars that look good and sound good, but I was never reliable in my playing with them.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
A LOT! The 3 biggest things for me are: how easy licks are for me to play, no errors and fun, / I LOVE how easy it is to finger-pick, / strumming produces a nice complete sound. The strings don't sound like they are competing with each other.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Hard to answer because I've denied myself from testing really expensive guitars because I know I won't pay that much for one. I can honestly say that I've played guitars in this price range and the Zager is FAR superior in every respect.
How would you rate customer support?
Dennis Jr. earned my respect. I peppered him with questions for a long time and he was always very polite and helpful with his answers.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?

Additional comments:
Even though this is their least expensive dreadnought, it is a very fine looking guitar. I thoroughly enjoy playing it. On the first day both my finger-picking and flat-picking on licks were better than on any other acoustic. Customer service is great.

I have a Gibson Northern Jumbo, this is the Canadian version of a Gibson Southern Jumbo. The Gibson is a great looking guitar,my Zager is also an awsome looking guitar. After playing both guitars ,the Zager feel's better, and is a whole lot easier to play. It's exactly like Mr Zager say's 30 to 50 percent easier playability.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I like this guitar a lot, because i can play a long time before my fingers get sore.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
At $995.00 Dollars youre most definately getting a BANG for youre buck, because this guitar could very easily sell for $1500 to $2000 dollars.

I was in the market for a smaller OM style guitar and was looking for the best price on a Martin 00/000 (which I had played and had mixed emotions based on the price and the playability. I own a Washburn and a Takamine and also had a Yamaha (that was stolen). I have to say that I cannot find a guitar that matches the playability, looks, sound and size even close to the price. And frankly I would still pick the Zager over the other brands if cost wasn't an issue.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The playability is amazing, I can play for hours and not feel any hand fatigue.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$1,100
How would you rate customer support?
Amazing! The response time is like nothing I've experienced anywhere. Within minutes of an email I got a detailed response. I tend to ask many questions, and given that I was buying a guitar site unseen or played, Dennis allayed all my concerns. I even got buyers remorse before it arrived because of all the negative talk out there on the message boards. With the money back guarantee, that became a non-issue.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I can't say enough good things about this guitar. I have been playing for 25 years and owned almost every vintage electric style out there. I wasn't as much of an "acoustic guy". When I decided that I wanted to get a smaller acoustic model and found what I was looking for with Zager, now it's all I want to play. The sound and playability are like nothing I've played. I brought it to a friends house recently who is a Berklee grad and his first response was "shoot now I need to buy another guitar". He had just bought a 2k Gibson, which is a gorgeous guitar, but for under $500 the Zager nails it.
Additional comments:
If you have any concerns about buying one of these, rest assured once you get one in your hands, you won't want to put the guitar down.

my other guitar is a Ibanes AW-30 full size which my wife got me . i never played before and never felt comfortable with the size , being only five four created a reach problem . The 50om fits me just right . the sound and quality design of the Zager far out reach the Ibanez in this novices opinion . it is like comparing leather shoes to synthetic . no comparison . the tone alone was worth the purchase . ease of play will yet to be determined as i am a beginner but the om design does not make me feel awkward or intimidated .
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite part about this guitar is the fact that it is crafted in the USA by Dennis Zager . he signed it then personally tuned it before shipping . and it is beautiful to look at,simple and comfortable to hold . can't stress this enough .
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Though i have not shop much , i believe it would easily be in the thousand dollar range
How would you rate customer support?
Customer support so far is great Dennis Jr . has answered all my correspondence before and after purchase . he recommened the 50om for me and was right on .
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes , i couldn't be happer with it and i am picky . it looks great and sounds great . I know quality when i see it .
Additional comments:
I am looking forward now to taking lessons and what expectations i have will be limited to me and not Zager Guitars .

I have a Yahama that is around 30 years old which still sounds good. I have looked around and could not find a guitar that sounded as good untill I received my Zager. The sound is as good or better.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Not just one part but all of it The sound, the finish, and the ease of play
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
The ones I've looked at I would say anywhere from 800 to 1,000 dollars

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
There is no comparison. My last guitar was not especially cheap and had a decent sound when played but was very difficult to practice on. I changed strings multiple times but that was not the answer. I bought the Zager Zad80ce nearly a year ago and am totally satisfied. It plays easily, looks absolutely beautiful and the case is substantial to protect my investment. The case even comes with an electronic temperature and humidity device to keep track of storage conditions to help protect my investment.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
I am most impressed by how well manufactured the guitar is. It is absolutely beautiful in fit and finish. Looking down the neck you can see the production accuracy that comes as the result of individual attention from a seasoned Luthier and precision craftsmen.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
On finally seeing the guitar and holding it in my hand, I would have guessed the price hundreds of dollars higher. I have been through countless music stores looking at guitars. My new Zager sounds much richer and carries the fit and finish of much more expensive guitars.
How would you rate customer support?
Customer support is wonderful. I mostly have communicated through email when I was trying to decide on models. I also have signed up for the guitar lessons (which are the most effective techniques I have ever studied). If ever there is a question, a technical issue or something I didn't understand, I had a friendly, intelligent email response sometimes in minutes but always in short order.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would, without a doubt, recommend this guitar. You really have to see it, hold it in your hand and hear its wonderful full, bright and clear tones to appreciate it. It really is easy to play, has onboard tuner, high end pickups and well, it's just a work of art.

Once you talk to the Zager group, you immediately realize you are dealing with a totally competent staff who are sporting an old fashioned, small town, competent and friendly business ethic. They produce a beautiful musical instrument that I am really proud to own.
