- 38 inchย Parlorย size easier for small players but still provides bigger sound.

Denny designs his parlor guitars for players who love the feel of smaller guitars but not the smaller sound. The Zager Parlor series guitars provide you with excellent playability due to their 2 inch shorter scale neck design (same as our smaller 36 inch travel size guitars) making them easier for smaller players, but Denny gave it a slightly larger box so sound is richer and deeper. ย It won’t sound like our OM or Full size guitars but our customers say it has the best sound of any small guitar on the market today. ย The 2 words we hear from players when describing our parlor guitars are “comfortable” and “fun”. 60 years of playing, performing and teaching has given Denny an advantage over the majority of guitar builders today. Denny understands the demands of the professional player because he is one. He discovered there are certain key elements that make a great guitar, and with that knowledge he created our 38 inch Parlor Series. Elements like solid wood construction, high quality hardware, a custom neck design that feels good in your hand, string spacing that allows you to move faster on the fret board, that simultaneously prevents buzzes and rattles, combined with a special bracing system that produces one of the best sounds in the guitar industry today. Magazine reviews and customer testimonials say the Zager 36 inch Travel outperforms guitars from the top 2 guitar makers at twice its price. Where else are you going to find a custom handmade guitar worked on by a Master luthier for under $1000? ย 100% money back guarantee including shipping fees both ways. Lifetime warranty.

![]() | 4/5 Parlor Size Style 25% smaller then our full size guitars. Close in size to our Orchestra Model (OM size) guitars but with the 2 inch shorter scale neck design that makes it easier for smaller players. |
![]() | Mahogany Top The most important part of an acoustic guitar is its top. The top acts like a speaker. When a string is plucked energy is transferred to the top and the top starts to move. Mahogany has all the characteristics of a great tonewood; its weight and strength allow for well-defined ranges of tone as well as strong volume. It's a little harder wood with better projection and real character in the grain. It works easily and displays beautiful figure, everything from straight-grained to flamed, quilt, curl, and mottled. |
![]() | Mahogany Back-sides One of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars today. If youโre looking for punchy bass, solid mids and sparkling highs mahogany is the wood you want on your next guitar. Acoustic guitars in general tend to live in the midrange portion of the sound spectrum, and mahogany in particular displays this characteristic best. Mahogany's tendency to emphasize midrange tones gives this guitar a rich full sound no matter the playing style. You can fingerpick, strum, or flatpick and mahogany always delivers. |
![]() | Mahogany Neck Mahoganyโone of the most popular tone woods used on acoustic guitars for the last 50 years |
![]() | Mahogany Headstock Mahogany is lightweight yet strong, and its timeless look is used on many quality guitars. The guitar head stock configuration is a registered trademark and is used under license from C.F. Martin & Co. Inc. of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, USA. |
![]() | Abalone Rosette Abalone type inlay is found on only the highest quality guitars. Laid by hand one piece at a time, the color and translucence of each piece changes with different amounts of light. Not only does it add to the look of your guitar, but it also adds to the value. |
![]() | High Gloss Finish High-gloss finish provides excellent protection but at the same time is extremely light and elastic. This is a crucial point in both the sound of the guitar and its ability to ageโwhich is what makes a guitar sound better year after year. A thick finish muffles a guitar's vibration and blocks aging. |
![]() | Genuine Fishman Built-in-equalizer Fishman equalizers are the highest quality equalizers used in acoustic guitars today. The equalizer is an electronic unit that controls the sound and volume when plugged into an amplifier or PA system. There are adjustments for highs, mids, lows, and presence. Fishman EQ's are used exclusively on high end acoustics by artists such as Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Alan Jackson and Aerosmith to name just a few. |
![]() | Genuine Fishman Built-in-transducer Fishman transducers are the highest quality transducers used in acoustic guitars today. A transducer is an amplification device placed under the saddle which allows you to plug into an amplifier and play an acoustic guitar like an electric guitar. This is all run by an on-board electronics package and equalizer that allows you to control the sound. A transducer properly installed by a pro luthier will bring out the bass response and rich ambiance of your guitar's wood. Done improperly your guitar will sound flat and have uneven tone quality. |
![]() | Custom Adjustment Setting Truss-rod Denny designs his guitars with a truss rod adjustment setting that allows you to dial in your guitar to your particular playing style. In this way if you're a heavy handed player you can set the action higher so you can "get on it" a little for more power, and if you're lighter handed touch player you can dial in the action low so you can move faster and play longer with less fatigue. |
![]() | Bone Hand Carved Nut Denny hand carves his nuts from bone for each guitar so the strings are set lower with custom spacing. Lower string heights make it easier to press down to form chords and it also increases finger speed. Custom spacing allows you to move faster with less buzzes, mutes, and rattles because youโre no longer bumping adjacent strings. Custom string spacing makes it easier for all hands sizes big and small. Lifetime warranty. Break a nut and we'll replace it free of charge for life |
![]() | Tusq Hand Carved Saddle Denny hand carves each saddle for each individual guitar. Denny also adjusts the intonation settings to bring the guitar harmonically in balance with itself. This not only makes your guitar easier to play, but it also makes it sound more powerful. Customers say our guitars fall into tune easier and stay in tune longer...this is one of the reasons why. Denny uses only genuine "Tusq" brand saddles on his guitars which you generally only find on higher dollar acoustics . Lifetime warranty. Break a saddle and we'll replace it free of charge for life. |
![]() | Zager Custom Lights Strings Zager custom strings are designed by Denny exclusively for his Guitars. We have customers using all brands and gauges of strings on our guitars with excellent results (Elixir, Martin, Fender, Gibson, D'addario) but these are the strings our customers seem to like the most on our guitars. Hand wound daily in our shop in Lincoln, Nebraska. |
![]() | Zager Soft Touch (Hand Filed) Frets Denny hand files each fret one at a time on every guitar that leaves our shop. By filing the frets Denny achieves two important things. When sliding up and down the neck your fingers will no longer get irritated and sore and you won't suffer from what we call "String Bite" and overall finger fatigue. Secondly, when you file the frets by hand each fret will have the same uniform height. 9 times out of 10 when you have a buzzing string it has nothing to with your playing, itโs because you have a guitar with a fret thatโs sitting away from the fret board hitting a string. |
![]() | Lifetime Warranty Our warranty is simple. Lifetime on all guitars. A quality guitar should be made to last a lifetime and if it doesn't it wasn't a quality guitar to begin with. |

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I was looking for a quality 3/4 guitar. This has great sound, appears to be crafted very well, and has a beautiful finish. The ones I tried at stores used laminated woods, didn't have as nice of a finish, and sounded "tinny" to my ear. This one sounds like I'm playing my regular size guitar.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The size. It's easy to transport and easy to play. When my 9-year old grand-daughter visits, she can play it while I play the full size guitar. In the meantime it's become my "go to" guitar.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$700 to $800.
How would you rate customer support?
I haven't required customer support other than being updated on delivery. Dennis immediately responded to any inquiry I had.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes. It's a beautiful product with a great sound at an affordable price. You can't go wrong.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have two Spanish-built Cordoba classical guitars, which really can't be compared to steel-stringed instruments. I also own a Martin Eric Clapton signature model and a Zager D-80. I bought the mahogany Travel to have something I can easily take on my many road trips. I didn't expect a deep-throated instrument equal to the two full-size guitars, and it doesn't have that tone. It's a physical impossibility. But it's a much higher-quality sound than I anticipated. I love it. It compares more than favorably with the Little Martin.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The fact that the fingering is so easy and the quality of the sound. I anticipated that the neck might be too narrow for my fingers, but it's fine.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
At least twice the $345 that I paid for it.
How would you rate customer support?
Nothing short of fantastic. I think Denny Zager lives at his computer just to be able to jump in with answers to emails as soon as they hit his screen.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely. For all the reasons above.
Additional comments:
From my two-guitar experience, Zager guitars are a steal. The pricing structure puts a truly great guitar within everyone's budget. As an example of how good these instruments are, a friend of mine -- a professional guitar player of some renown -- was playing a gig a few blocks from my condo. He didn't have time to run home to pick up one of his own guitars, so he asked if he could borrow one of mine. I gave him the Clapton Martin and the Zager D-80. After playing both, he chose the Zager. I'm just sayin' ...

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
It is comparable with low end Epiphones and Martins. The finish is done well but not over the top. The Grover tuners are not high end but work very "grover tuner" well. I own a few guitars that are set up by a local well-known luthier and the Zager plays as well if not better than the current setup I have.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
The back radius of the neck and the taper fits my hand. It plays well right out of the box. Nice quality fitted case.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
Honestly about what I paid for it with the case...around $450. It's good value for the money.
How would you rate customer support?
Support is outstanding. I don't think it will change
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes. Get past the advertising needed to get website traffic and try one...you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal off the shelf or as conveniently. IF I wanted to send it back I don't think there would be any questions asked. Dennis Jr has been nothing but top notch with answers and response.
Additional comments:
After an impulsive buy I have since done additional research looking for similar setup and quality. I purchased my guitar because the money back guarantee seemed legit and I wanted time to "test-drive". I have honestly found no other guitars that "off the shelf" are worth the money. Every higher end guitar I have played ($500-1400 range) since getting the Zager Parlor would need a setup to play as well with the additional cost of a hard case. The Zager's do get panned for marketing but get one delivered, actually playing it and looking at the value for the dollar makes getting one worthwhile in my opinion. TO get a guitar that plays as well would cost more money and time and expense to get it dialed in by hand by a luthier. Zager's work on many levels which I didn't really expect, and have made deciding to keep it easier. This is my honest opinion and it is in no way influenced by Zager except for the fact that I now own one. I also own 1943 Epiphone Blackstone, Epiphone AJ250S, Fender Strat,Martin LX1, Hofner Shorty, & Rogue A-style Mando. I have no particular style I just play guitar to amuse myself.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I would have to say that it is as well constructed as any of my other two guitars (yamaha and martin) but is much easier to play due to the size and string ease. I do not have to mash as hard on the strings to get a clean note which is a joy to me because I am tired of sore fingers. Have had it a little over a week now and haven't experienced any soreness yet! :)
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Hmmm....it's size is nice because it is easy to tote around. It has a good sound for small areas and practicing playing...granted it is not a concert guitar but for it's size, it sounds as good as any other baby/palor guitar out there for a whole hellava lot less! It looks awesome. It is fun to play. I guess that is more than 'a' favorite part...sorry, got carried away.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would guess in the $800 range.
How would you rate customer support?
Awesome!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absoultely...They put the customer first which is the way it should be.
Additional comments:
I will probably never buy another guitar from anyone else as long as Zager is still around and hasn't changed their customer focused business plan.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
Only brand of steel-string that I like.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Purchased this guitar for travel after being so pleased with the ZAD50e. Not only is it perfect for travel, but it is gorgeous and sounds much better than I expected in a small guitar. Plus, the 'feel' is so similar to my other Zager. The bottom line is that I enjoy playing your guitars! Another cool thing is that as I get better the guitar continues to respond with improved sound.

Although this guitar was sold as blemished, I could barely find the flaw in the finish on the head stock.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I am small and petite and had purchased a Dean Gypsy which is a nice guitar, but the Travel Mahogany just fit right in my hands. It is very easy for me to hold and easy to play especially being a beginner.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite part in not having any sore fingers. I gave up trying to learn to play the guitar because I could not handle the sore fingers. Not to mention this is a beautiful guitar. Although I bought this guitar as a blemished model and got it at a reduced price which was great. You can not see the blemishes, it looks like a perfect guitar. Awesome deal!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$500 to $600
How would you rate customer support?
The best customer service. I had some questions before buying the guitar and sent Mr Zager an email on a Saturday and literally in minutes I received a response. He also sent a follow up email after I purchased the guitar.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely. Great product and great customer service.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
This is a travel guitar for when I go away not on a music tour or gig but just to have something to play every day--I get some withdrawal if I don't play for a few days.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
It has basically the same feel as my other Zagers. You buy a Zager for playability and I want the same feel in a smaller travel guitar. With the smaller body you have some attenuation of sound projection and frets are closer together but the action feel is similar to my other two Zagers. The case is built like a tank--just right for travel.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would guess about like the Little Martins.
How would you rate customer support?
There is no comparison. If you don't like it, they will take it back and pay shipping--who else is going to do that unless they really have a great product? What do you have to lose, if you don't like your Zager he takes it back--they do not want unsatisfied customers.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
If you play every day and use differing guitar sizes for different venues and want the same sort of feel and playability over your go-to guitars, Zager is really hard to beat. The setup is everything. Denny's system is right on the money. He knows what a player really wants.
Additional comments:
If you are a heavy handed player, you might not like the Zager action and setup. If you are struggling with Barre chords and fingerstyles and flex in your strums for a wider sound--you probably found the guitar you will play every day in a Zager. You can play for hours without sore fingers and still get big sound.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I have played guitar for 40 years and owned an Epiphone, Guild 12-string and Takamine G Series dreadnought. Although each of those guitars had their merits, the Zager guitar has proven to exceed them all in quality, pleasure and playability.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
My favorite aspect of the Zager is its beautiful musicality. Notes ring out like bells, and the sustain carries them on and on. The tone is rich and full. The action makes it relatively easy to bridge and move up and down the neck, easier than friends' Baby Martin. The full sound extracts the most from hammering, and the geometry of the strings and neck invite bluesy riffs, bluegrass trills and nice bent notes.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I would have expected this guitar to be more expensive than it was, especially with the holiday sale pricing I took advantage of.
How would you rate customer support?
Customer support has been great. Denny accommodated my request to pay over time, although it was not an option on the website. With a personal note, he or his staff acknowledged each payment I made. I received prompt notice when the guitar shipped and equally prompt follow-up when it arrived. I now wear with pride the Zager T-shirt that accompanied my order gratis.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
I would recommend this guitar without reservation. The 3/4 Travel is especially sweet for someone small like myself who wants a full sound without being dwarfed by some mega-guitar. Anyone who wants to play a beautifully made and sonorous instrument should consider one of the Zager guitars.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
It does not compare too much out there. This guitar is perfect right out of the box. EZ Play is exactly that, EZ to play. I have had (30+ year professionals) comment that it's probably one of the nicest guitars they ever played. Where did you get this guitar, they ask? What\'s that name again, they ask? I have friends that play, and when they come over to my home, the first thing they ask is, "where is the Zager?"
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
It's depndability and ease of playing!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
$800-$1200
How would you rate customer support?
A+ There are only two companies I would even consider to give an A+. 1)Zager Guitar 2)Swarovski Optics
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Yes! because I know my recommendation to others would never cause me embarassment.
Additional comments:
This is the second Zager guitar I have purchased and I am completely and 100% satisfied with the experience. Denny, thanks for doing what you do!
